The team of first three women fighter pilots of the India will be flying MiG-21 Bison jets, which is one of the potent combat aircraft with the Indian Air Force.
The three women pilots of the Indian Air Force are — Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh, who were commissioned as flying officers in July last year are ready to write history this November 2017 when they fly military jets after undergoing and completing a strenuous training programme, that too in a span of three weeks.
“The present consideration is to put them to Mig 21 Bison squadron. Our opinion is that it will sharpen their skills as the aircraft has more manual features than other sophisticated aircraft,” — Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa
The government decided to open the fighter stream for women on an experimental basis. The IAF has already selected the next batch of three women trainee pilots for fighter stream.
